SUNSHINE SHINED ON ACADEMY OF ART + VIDEO

Words can not express what I saw at this year's graduates for the Academy of Art. It was truly a joy to watch what these students have worked towards for so long. Want some highlights? Thought you'd never ask:

  • I was so obsessed with the Dries Van Noten inspired collection that I'm doing an entirely separate article on the collection
  • Watching the expressions from Suzy Menkes, Yigal Azrouel, the designers of Duckie Brown and the crowd in general were just as exciting. You literally watched them rate, discuss and decide for sponsorships/internships based on their faces. It was amazing
  • I couldn't get enough of the use of rubber. There was a collection where the textile designer implanted fabric between two pieces of rubber and it looked so chic. You would never think that rubber could actually be worn in such a way. Ya, I'll be rockin' rubber. What?
  • The stripper heels in the designer showcase with all the tulle and layers. I mean, didn't I call the whole stripper heel trend? Yup, go get yours now. Oh and a pole too. ;)

Don't mind the sample music being used in the video. Unfortunately, YouTube is a fail and won't let me upload cool music. I'm kicking someone's ass.

Seeing the show with my bestie and partner for Decades Past, Alexia, is always a good time. I also ran into the lovely, Aimee and Katie (not shown). The cool thing about the show is the felllow blogger friend, Fayrouz who showcased her collection down the runway. She's pictured below. Unfortunately, my images of her collection came out all blurry. There are a few shots in the video so check it out!

Thanks so much Academy for the wonderful seats, for an amazing show and for giving me a great insight on such quality.
